Hi reader! Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog! As you have probably already guessed, my name is Rachael. I'm a mum of three from South Wales, UK.


The reason behind the blog is simple; I love reading. I have loved reading ever since I can remember. I was born in the 80's so as children we didn't have half the technology and distractions that are here today. Books were my favourite thing. I have so many fond memories of reading as a child and so many favourite books; too many to mention! Growing up in the 90's I was obviously a fan of R L Stine's Goosebumps series! 

Possibly my favourite childhood book of all time is an Enid Blyton classic. It was a trilogy of The Naughtiest Girl in the School. I loved it and was really upset a few years ago to find that I had gotten rid of it at some point since childhood. So much so, that I tracked down an identical copy for my daughter to read (and myself of course!)

After leaving school, I chose to study Law at university with the intention of going on to become a practising solicitor. When I fell pregnant with my eldest daughter and became a mum I knew things had changed and I no longer wanted the 40+ hour workweek, long commutes, and bringing work home to finish over the weekends. My passion for reading, though, has never waned.

So here we are in early 2026. This blog was started way back in 2015, but has definitely fell by the wayside over the years! Reading is my absolute passion, but I'm also a secret tech geek at heart. I am excited to see where the blog takes me, especially since building a community of over 5000 followers on Bookstagram and learning some new skills.

Today's review is a thriller set to be released in the UK on 27th July this year. Firstly, as always, thank you to NetGalley for the advance reader copy. What is your reading speed?

Whilst browsing online book stores yesterday I came across a book called Speed Reading; How to increase your reading speed and comprehension by Bryan Botwin. I like to think of myself as a relatively fast and competent reader, but thought I would read it anyway. Any of us bookworms will admit that being able to read faster can only be a good thing as it enables us to read more and more books in less time.
