She’s the woman of his dreams. He’s the monster from her nightmares.
When Daniella rescues elderly Peggy from a mugger on a Boston street, she expects nothing in return. But then she meets Peggy’s son, Lucas—devastatingly handsome and utterly captivating. Unlike her distant husband Grant, Lucas sees her. Wants her.
Daniella can’t resist and they spend one reckless night together which she immediately regrets.
Too late, because Lucas doesn’t just want Daniella. He needs her. And he’s willing to destroy everything—and everyone—standing in his way.
Lucas plays the long game, worming his way into Daniella’s life—befriending Grant, charming her twin daughters, inveigling his way into her family. Every time she turns around, he seems to be there.
As the depths of his obsession become clear, Daniella realizes she’s in a fight for her life. Because the family she tried to help is hiding something dark. Something deadly.
And she’s already in too deep to escape.

My Thoughts
From the moment I started reading, I knew I was in for a wild ride — but I wasn’t quite prepared for just how unhinged things were going to get.
The hype around this book in our tour chat was off the scale, and honestly it only made me want to finish it even quicker. It was my first from this author, so I was keen to enjoy it.
One of the things that really works here is the multiple POV structure, which keeps the tension building and left me constantly questioning what’s really going on. Each perspective adds another layer of unease, and the deeper you get into the story, the more unsettling everything becomes.
Daniella seems like a likeable character, despite her flaws, with a loving family behind her. Peggy is the sweet old lady that knits, but you can sense that there are things we don't yet know about her.
Then there’s Lucas. Weird? Pushy? Possibly all of the above. From the start he gives off serious stalker vibes and red flags, and what begins as an intense infatuation at first sight quickly spirals into something much darker. The forced proximity element towards the end adds an extra layer of claustrophobic tension, making the whole situation feel increasingly uncomfortable.
Without giving anything away, Lucas is the kind of character who makes you pause mid-page and think: this man is absolutely unhinged. Add in some serious mummy and daddy issues, escalating obsession, and behaviour that veers firmly into psychopath territory, and you’ve got a thriller that keeps you on edge the whole way through.
And just when you think it's over, THAT twist lands.
I genuinely didn’t see it coming.
Overall, Don't Answer the Phone is dark, intense, and packed with psychological tension — perfect if you enjoy thrillers that make you question every character and keep you guessing right until the final pages.
